Question: What ideas science did you learn?

Answer: We learned many science ideas this week in class. We began learning about the parts involved in mitosis, such as centrioles and chromosomes. On the 12th we had a substitute and we did not learn much due to misinterperted dirrections. The next day we had Mr. Finley back and we bassicly learned the main concept of mitosis,we learned the parts involved,we learned what happens in each stage and we spent some time on other parts of the cell cycle . One of the other parts of the cycle is S or synthesis, during synthesis the DNA replicates in order to be able to split during mitosis. On the 14th we again had a sub and we just did review activities, but we did learn the amount of time each cell syays in each part of the cell cycle. Finally, on friday we learned about the cell cycle in general,we learned that mitosis is just a small part of the cycle which is mostly made up of interphase.

Question: How did you learn these ideas?

Answer: We learned these ideas in many ways this week in science class. We started the week with class disscussion on the general idea of mitosis and the parts involved in it. On tuesday we had a sub and we watched a video and took notes on it which may not be as effective as coming to a conclusion as a group. The next day we again disscused mitosis but in greater depth,we learned exactly what happens in each stage of mitosis, as well as the beggining ideas of the larger cell cycle. The day after that we had another sub and we each did review activities induvidually. Finally on Friday we learned about the larger idea behind the cell cycle.

Question: Why is it important to know these ideas (What real world application is there)?

Answer: There are many real world applications to what we learned in science class. Disscussions with others is always helpful to pool ideas and to choose the right course of action no matter what age you are. Also, the sub problems taught us that sometimes we need to take things into our own hands. Also doing research on your own is sometimes needed to solve problems. Also, knowing the actual ideas will help if you want to be scientist when your older. As you can see there are many real world applications to what we learned this week in science class.
