Question: What science ideas did you learn?

Answer: We learned many new science ideas this week in class. We began the short week by reviewing key ideas about mitosis, also we began learning about what a karyotype is and how it is formed. The next day we took a quiz and did not really learn anything new. On Thursday we began learning about meiosis, or how a sperm/egg cell reproduces. Also we learned the final ideas on a karyotypes, such as what an autosome is. Finally on Friday we continued to learn about the phases of meiosis and what happens in each phase.

Question: How did you learn these ideas?

Answer: We learned these ideas in many ways. We started the week with a class disscussion over the main ideas of mitosis as well as a what a karyotype is. Class discussions are a very helpful method of learning because it allows everybody to get involved in their learning. The next day we had a quiz on mitosis, quizes are always very helpful in assesing you knowledge on a subject. Another way we leaned these ideas was by using a simulation, simulations provide essential knowledge on a subject but allow you to learn these ideas in a more hands on way.

Question: Why is it important to know these ideas(What real world application is there)?

Answer: There are many real world applications to what we learned in science class. Knowing these science ideas will always be useful if you wanted to be a scientist or doctor. Also, knowing the methods in which we learned these ideas will be helpful througout your life. For example, discussions with others will always be helpful to pool ideas whether you are a student in the seventh grade or a scientist trying to find a cure for cancer. As you can see there are many real world applications to what we learned in science class.
